Volunteer for us
Brookwood Cemetery is a vast, 220 acre site. 250,000 people are buried here and we have over 18,000 memorials.
We need help conserving the cemetery’s heritage and natural beauty while also managing its public amenity value.

Regular volunteers
We host volunteering sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 12 noon for people who enjoy spending time outdoors.
Our Tuesday sessions are ideal for those looking to stay fit and who are comfortable using tools such as strimmers and leaf blowers. In contrast, our Thursday sessions are slower-paced, quieter, and well-suited to those seeking mindfulness and connection with others.
Whatever your preference, volunteers work together to tidy assigned plots or tend to graves that have not been visited for some time.
Tasks may include sweeping, raking, gathering leaves, and pruning. No experience is needed - we’ll show you what to do and provide all the equipment.
To keep things sociable, we keep group sizes small and encourage volunteers to bring and share refreshments, as well as socialise together.
Corporate volunteering
We can accommodate large corporate groups from organisations that want to make a difference or give something back to their local community.
Where possible we will try to identify a rewarding task or project that can be completed during your visit.
Colleagues will need to work together to undertake tasks such as trimming and edging graves, maintaining paths and access routes, cutting back invasive species and removing fallen debris.

You do not need any prior experience to volunteer with us. We will show you what to do and provide the required equipment. All activities have been risk assessed but to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience, you will need the following:
