
Filming and photography
Brookwood Cemetery is privately owned by Brookwood Park Limited and many of the graves, monuments and mausolea within the cemetery are also privately owned.
To preserve the dignity, privacy, and peaceful atmosphere of our cemetery, all photography and filming activities are subject to permission.
Personal and editorial use
You may take photographs or footage for personal and editorial use to help promote the activities of Brookwood Cemetery, provided that the images are not used for personal financial gain or any income-generating purpose.
Please ensure that:

- photography is conducted respectfully and discreetly
- other visitors, mourners, and funeral services are not disturbed
- no photographs are taken of individuals without their consent
- images of unrelated graves or memorials are avoided where possible
- activities do not disturb wildlife or cause damage to the cemetery, its features, or its historic environment
Funerals and memorial services
Photography or filming of funerals, memorial services, mourners, or visitors is strictly prohibited unless expressly authorised by both the cemetery management and the families concerned.
Drone operations
The use of drones or any unmanned aircraft is prohibited without prior written consent. Any approved drone activity must comply with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and all applicable UK laws.
Privacy and data protection
Anyone conducting photography or filming must comply with applicable privacy and data protection requirements, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) where relevant. Visitors should respect the privacy of mourners and avoid capturing identifiable individuals without permission.
Cemetery management rights
The cemetery reserves the rights to:

- refuse or revoke photography and filming permission
- restrict access to certain areas
- ask any person to cease photography or filming if it is considered inappropriate or disruptive
- request a correction if the published content is factually inaccurate, misleading or harmful to the reputation of the cemetery
Commercial filming and photography
To use Brookwood Cemetery as a location for filming or photography, or to feature the cemetery in a TV production, please contact the cemetery office.
We will require the following information:

- name of the individual, company, or organisation
- purpose of the photography or filming
- date and time requested
- number of people attending
- equipment to be used
- proof of public liability insurance
A location fee may apply depending on the nature and scale of the project. Larger projects will be referred to Area 4, which manages and co-ordinates filming activities on our behalf.

Requests should be submitted well in advance of the intended date.
