The Glades of Remembrance featuring a lake surrounded by trees.

Ashes interment

The interment of ashes means placing a loved one’s cremated remains in a permanent resting place.

It offers family members the comfort of a dedicated spot to visit where they can remember and maintain a connection with their loved one.

Location

The Glades of Remembrance in the South Cemetery opened in 1950 to give those of who favour cremation, a beautiful and tranquil place where ashes can be interred.

The dappled sunlight and soothing sound of the water fountain makes the Glades a calming and comforting resting place for all concerned. Loved ones can be laid to rest in the leafy glades or wooded gardens which surround the ornamental lake.

Cost

The interring of ashes is signifcantly more affordable compared to traditional burial. Please see our price guide.

Size

Graves are typically 2ft by 2ft and a maximum two sets of cremated remains can be interred together.

Casket size

You can place ashes directly into the grave or bury them in a standard size casket or urn. We do not recommend scatter tubes for burial.

Memorials

A small headstone wedge or flat plate memorial can be placed immediately after burial. For burials in the wooded garden, a tree can be planted with a memorial name plate.

Alternative locations

Ashes can be interred in other parts of the cemetery. Larger graves suitable for up to eight sets of cremated remains can also be purchased.
