God’s Trees: a talk with Julian Evans
Professor Julian Evans OBE is a forest scientist and Forestry Commissioner. He has worked both overseas and in UK and is author of several books, mainly on forestry topics. In 2014 his first coffee-table book was published about trees in the Bible bringing together his professional interests and Christian faith. For many years he was board member of Tearfund and is also a past president of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. He is married to Margaret and has three sons and three granddaughters.
In his presentation, God’s Trees, Julian takes seven cameos from the Bible around the three of trees, forests and wood. Among them are the Sycomore-fig that Zaccheus climber, cedar of Lebanon for temples and palaces, the astonishing first-century fishing boat preserved in the mud of the Sea of Galilee, and what might have been the wood of the Cross. The illustrated talk lasts about 45 minutes with time for questions and discussion after.
The talk will begin at 18:30 so please arrive from 18:15 for a prompt start. After the presentation there will be light refreshments available and an opportunity to ask Julian questions. His book will also be available for purchase at a special discounted price.
