The Brookwood Memorial
The Brookwood Memorial

This video clip is from the British Pathe archive and shows extracts from the service unveiling the Brookwood Memorial in October 1958. It shows the arrival of members of the Royal Family and the Chaplain General opening the service. The Queen makes a short speech before unveiling the memorial and laying a wreath.

Another reel shows the distinguished guests arriving at Brookwood Military Cemetery and other excerpts from the ceremony (silent). A final reel shows relatives of the fallen, the departure of the Royal Family, and relatives passing through the memorial (silent).

This video clip is from the British Pathe archive and shows the Savoy Hotel Orpheans playing 'I'm For You A Hundred Per Cent'. Singer Frances Day enters in an evening gown and sings. She puts her arms around Howard Jacobs (playing saxophone and clarinet) and Carroll Gibbons (conducting) towards the end of the song.

It includes views of Donnington Hall, Derby; "Venture House" in Woking; Richard Todd and Joyce Pearce; the Ockenden Education Centre; and a theatre trip to London at Christmas by children from the Ockenden Venture.
